Drywall Finishing & Taping in San Antonio & the Hill Country

Taping, mudding, corner bead and sanding to a smooth paint-ready finish — high ceilings on scaffold and stilts — in San Antonio and all around it.

A hung wall is not a finished wall. Every seam between panels, every screw head, and every inside and outside corner has to disappear before anyone can paint over it, and that disappearing act is what drywall finishing is. Juan tapes and muds the joints, sets corner bead on the outside corners so they stay straight and sharp, and sands the whole surface smooth once the mud has dried. Done right, nobody looking at the finished wall can tell where one panel ends and the next one begins — which is exactly the point.

High ceilings are part of the job in a lot of the houses around San Antonio and the Hill Country, especially the full-height great rooms and vaulted spaces that are common in newer construction. Reaching those seams means working off scaffold or stilts, not a short ladder, and taping and sanding overhead takes more care than doing the same work at eye level. Juan finishes ceilings the same way he finishes walls — coat by coat, sanded smooth, checked under light before it is called done. Whether it is a single room in a remodel or a whole new house waiting on paint, finishing is the step that decides whether the final coat of paint looks sharp or shows every flaw underneath it. It starts with a no-obligation quote by WhatsApp.

What's included

Finishing starts once the sheetrock is hung and screwed tight. Juan applies paper or mesh tape over every seam, then covers it with an initial coat of mud, called the tape coat. Corner bead goes on outside corners before they get mudded so the edges stay straight. After the tape coat dries, a wider coat feathers the seam out so it blends into the flat wall, and a final coat covers screw heads and any low spots. Each coat has to dry before the next one goes on. Once the mud is fully dry, Juan sands the whole surface smooth, knocking down ridges and high spots until the wall is flat and even, ready for primer and paint.

How we work

Send a photo

Send Juan a photo of the hung sheetrock so he can see how much finishing the space needs before he quotes it.

No-obligation quote

Juan reviews the space and the ceiling height, then gives a no-obligation quote by WhatsApp at (210) 505-1842.

Taping and mudding

Every seam gets taped and mudded in coats, corners get bead, and screw heads get covered until the wall reads flat.

Walk through

Once the mud is sanded smooth, Juan walks the space with you under good light to check the finish before paint.

Drywall Finishing & Taping by city

A builder's whole house in New Braunfels, a texture match in an older Alamo Heights home, a garage turned into a room in Schertz and a coffered ceiling in Boerne each need a different plan — and we handle all of them.

Common questions

What does drywall finishing actually cover?
Taping the seams, mudding them in coats, setting corner bead, and sanding everything smooth so it is ready for paint.
Can you finish high or full-height ceilings?
Yes. Juan works off scaffold or stilts to tape, mud, and sand ceilings that are too high to reach from a short ladder.
Do you also hang the sheetrock, or just finish it?
Both — but they are separate steps. See drywall installation for hanging the panels; finishing is the taping and mudding that comes after.
Will the seams show once it is painted?
The point of finishing is that they do not. Coats are feathered out and sanded so the wall reads as one flat surface.
